Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)- How can it help you?

Updated: May 7, 2019

RLD is an award winning technique developed by Sally Kay, primarily for clients suffering with secondary lymphoedema. She worked with Cardiff University to research and publish a treatment that worked only the lymphatic system through the feet as in traditional reflexology.

The study produced significant results and clients showed a positive response following only one treatment.

The lymphatic system spans the whole body, transporting waste out of the tissues and organs and eventually back into the venous system where it can be excreted through the kidneys. It is vital that this flow remains uninterrupted to keep the body working and feeling in tip top condition. When this flow is stopped swelling occurs and currently their is no cure. So a manual technique or compression garments are often used but is there another way?...

This is where RLD can be extremely beneficial post cancer treatment involving the removal of lymph nodes. Swelling can appear in the limb of the affected side ranging from the hand, wrist, arm, shoulder and around the breast. Leaving the sufferer in pain, discomfort, self conscious and with reduced self-esteem. This treatment has similar effects to MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) and can help relieve this area with dramatic effects.

RLD can also be effective to support many conditions including allergies such as hayfever, autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy induced lymphoedema, tinnitus, inflammatory conditions, fibromyalgia, ME, chronic fatigue syndrome and many more!

It is a particularly gently treatment and can also be included in your usual reflexology session. Clients have reported a range of positive responses to this wonderful technique. Have you tried it yet?
